An Introduction to Acupuncture
Lecture to third year Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery students on acupuncture theory, research, and practice in the UK today. The use of acupuncture in pregnancy and midwifery is explained.

Treatment of Painful Neurological and Orthopaedic Conditions with Acupuncture - MA8 Level 7 (post-graduate) 20 credits
This module is part of the Europe's First Post-graduate Master's course in acupuncture held at the College of Traditional Acupuncture [new window]
The course explores the acupuncture diagnosis and treatment of many different types of neurological, orthopaedic and cerebral diseases, including many types of pain.
Diseases and disorders studied includes intercostal neuralgia, trigeminal neuralgia, peripheral nerve damage, facial paralysis and spasm, herpes zoster, stroke, and neck, shoulder, wrist, back, leg and arm pain.
Case examples and practical work are used in lectures and seminars to promote understanding of underlying physiology and anatomy, and how these pertain to diagnosis and treatment using various acupuncture approaches. Palpation, examination, point selection, needling techniques, types of needles and auxiliary treatments will be discussed and practiced. Prognosis and factors affecting this will be covered, as well as treatment frequency and duration.

Treating Stroke using acupuncture
A one-day seminar on head acupuncture techniques widely used in China in the treatment of stroke and the accompanying side effects. Day will look at treating different symptoms and side effects of stroke including hemiplegia, paraplegia, speech disorders, swallowing disorders,  visual disorders and facial paralysis. Needling techniques, types of needles, styles of acupuncture, moxibustion, electro-acupuncture and scalp acupuncture will also be examined.
